Aside from all the wonderful individuals (yes, you!) that live, work and play in Camden, how else does the borough ensure it remains such a thriving place?
The Camden Inspire Awards return this year to celebrate the innovative places, shops and venues that bring an extra special something to the community. It’s your chance to show some love for your favourites, rewarding them for their ingenuity and efforts. All you have to do is vote for your beloved local enterprise, letting them know that their positive impact on the area is appreciated. Nice and simple.
Last year’s first ever Camden Inspire Awards did exactly what its bold name claims – inspiring and supporting not just the traders and brands who make Camden what it is, but the up-and-coming newbies shaping the borough’s future. From ethical clothing brand Clime-it Brothers to Drummond Street’s acclaimed Bio Organix store, the winners represented a range of backgrounds, interests and ideas. Initiated by Camden Town Unlimited and Euston Town, their glittering awards event provided a chance to celebrate independent business and bring people together for an end-of-year bash, too.
This year they’ve added a fifth category to the existing four (Eating Experience, Live Music Venue, Market Trader, Newcomer). The new Best Arts and Cultural Venue Award recognises Camden’s abundant reserves of unique and vibrant art centres, theatres and galleries.
Nominees include Zabludowicz Collection, Chalton Gallery and New Diorama Theatre. So if you’ve seen something mind-blowing in the past year or just recognise the efforts of those working together to make something special, it’s time to get voting.
Polls open on Monday and, as last year, there will be another glitzy Christmas get-together at Camden Collective to celebrate the nominees and winners, free and open to all (though ticketed). You can enjoy beers from Camden Town Brewery, get stuck into some tasty patties – provided by Burger People, no less – and give all the participating businesses a massive round of applause (and why not yourselves, too?). Last year’s party was a night to remember, so don’t miss this one!
