Camden Fringe is back all August

The venue that was once home to a boozer is once again showcasing an array of innovative productions this August

Memory Soldier at Camden People's Theatre, Camden Fringe

This year there’s an awesome line-up for this esoteric festival’s thirteenth outing, with over two hundred shows, in which the local Camden People’s Theatre features heavily.

Themes of #MeToo, LGBTQ and mental health take the forefront, reflecting what the organisers call “a groundbreaking year of social and political change for the UK”.

There are edgy and experimental musicals, stand-up, dance, cabaret and poetry. Artists range from highly experienced to ambitious newcomers: With Child is a show presented by Clare Rebekah Pointing – talking-heads style monologues that share glimpses into women’s daily lives, warts and all.

Meanwhile, Memory Soldier explores what happens when a soldier comes home, a story of relationships in extreme circumstances, both on duty and beyond. And in Tieta, The Trial, the audience rides an “emotional rollercoaster” of fact, fiction and live music in equal measure, as a man returns to his rural town as a trans woman – and millionaire.

Our advice? Have a rummage through the dozens of shows below and book something unlike anything you’ve seen before.
